About Jacob Hatch

Meet Jacob Hatch, (LMHC, M.Div.)

When I first stepped into pastoral ministry, I thought I understood what it meant to walk with people through suffering. But during the 2009 housing crisis, I saw families in my congregation unravel under stress, loss, and relational strain. They came to me as their pastor first, but when the needs surpassed my time and training as a pastor, I wanted to be able to help. I soon realized there were limits to how deeply I could help without more training.

That experience stirred something in me. I wanted to offer care that bridged the wisdom of faith with the depth of clinical mental health work. So, in 2015, I earned my Master’s in Counseling and began working in the dependency system, where I quickly noticed something that shaped my entire approach: the root struggles weren’t usually in the children I was assigned to help, but in the parents’ ability to connect, guide, and attach. That insight led me to study attachment theory, and it has been a cornerstone of my work ever since.

In time, I joined a group practice that blended faith and therapy. When that practice folded, I launched Living Transformed Counseling. The name reflects not just a belief but a vision: that transformation is possible through safe connection, courageous reflection, and healing that honors both the mind and the soul.

I have been married to my college sweetheart for 17 years and spend much of my time outside the office with our two children. Family life often revolves around theater practices, piano lessons, Girl Scouts, and active involvement in our church community. In my quieter moments, I enjoy building Legos, following the Jacksonville Jaguars, reading, and spending time outdoors playing frisbee with our family dog, Sam.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Healing is not a linear path, and every client arrives at a different place in their journey. Some are overwhelmed by anxiety and need tools for stabilization. Others are ready to explore deep-rooted patterns from their past. I begin by first understanding where you are and what you can handle right now.

My integrative approach weaves together modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, attachment-based methods, solution-focused techniques, and for couples, the Gottman Method. I often assign practices or reflections between sessions because growth continues outside the therapy room.

This work is thoughtful and collaborative. I view my role as not simply telling you what to do, but to offer insight, structure, and steady presence as you uncover what needs healing and how to move forward.

Faith-Enriched Counseling (When Requested)

I describe my approach as faith-enriched mental health counseling. It means that my clinical work is grounded in evidence-based practices, but when clients want to bring faith into the room, I know how to honor that. With Christian clients, that might mean exploring themes like humility, trust, or spiritual surrender. With others, we might simply talk about values, purpose, or meaning.

With that said, clients never need to justify their beliefs to have a successful and positive experience at Living Transformed Counseling. This is their space, and it will always align with the worldview they choose to embrace.

Who I Work With

Living Transformed Counseling is focused on adults, couples, and older teens (usually 16 and up). I often work with people navigating anxiety, grief, burnout, identity shifts, or relational struggles. Some are in crisis; others simply feel off-track and want help finding their way back to a steadier place.

For couples, I help restore connection, rebuild trust, and reestablish healthy patterns of communication.

If I ever determine that your needs fall outside my scope, I’ll help you find someone who can support you well from a trusted network.

Professional Background and Commitments

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a member of the American Counseling Association. I complete over 80 hours of continuing education every two years to stay current in best practices on behalf of my clients. I also offer HIPAA-compliant tele-health sessions for clients across Florida and partner with a third-party service to manage insurance billing for select plans.

Whether you’re seeking care rooted in faith or simply in need of a grounded, relational approach to therapy, I would be honored to walk with you toward a life that feels more connected, steady, and whole.
